  Allis Chalmers 720 tractor
Posted by: Degate - 11-14-2023, 03:06 PM - Forum: Off Topic - No Replies

The Allis Chalmers 720 is actually made by Simplicity mid 1970's which sold their version as the 9020 with a slightly different hood, the 9020 was my first find. It had a seized engine and I wanted to keep the tractor as original as possible.

It took me over a year to find another suitable Onan CCK, the engine ran alright so I used it as is, then a fellow from a forum I had belonged to gave me a heads up on the Allis 720.

The Allis had some mechanical issues, a blown hydrostatic pump but she came with the front end loader and the loader would be a direct fit onto the Simplicity 9020.

I liked the style of the Allis, ended up rebuilding the hydrostatic pump, chopped up the 9020 as a parts tractor. I have a rototiller, snowblower and grass cutting deck.

Due to some BS at home ended up selling everything to one buyer, the fellow is not mechanically minded in any way at all and had trouble keeping the engine in tip top condition. He had left the ignition turned on which burned out the contact points.

Long story, the BS part of my life had a different postal code, I repurchased the tractor two days ago.

Some features, 3 speed transmission with hi / low range coupled to a hydrostatic drive, rear PTO with a 3 point hitch. Also a front PTO.

I spend valuable time typing a new thread, post images and videos only to be informed I've exceeded my limit.

It's not going to happen anytime soon again as I'm outta here for good.

I do not own this lathe but have the privilege of using it whenever I'm in need with one of my projects.

The lathe was made 1912 in the UK.

Current project, building a small hammer mill to bust open integrated circuits.

The vise grip clamped onto the rim keeps the bead from wandering.

Snagged the valve stem, had to replace.
